S&C is seeking a director of global engineering for new product introduction (NPI) in its Electromechanical (EM) line of business. The successful candidate will be accountable for leading the design, development and launch of all new EM product platforms for S&C customers around the world.
Key responsibilities include:
Support strategic business initiatives including proposal development, technology roadmaps, strategies, including planning support.
Provide planning support, customer support, product modification/development, and intellectual property development and protection.
Establish strong relationships with external customers and internal functional stakeholders.
Promote a customer-centric culture, enable clear communication channels and alignment with business goals and requirements.
Establish strong relationships with the Technology Program Management Office.
Champion and enable effective deployment of resources.
Training and utilization of program management best practices throughout the EM line of business.
Accountable for improving product quality, reducing NPI cycle time, delivery & cost objectives.
Drive project execution, value engineering, and other proactive methods to achieve breakthrough improvement.
Function as the engineering approval point for project phase gate reviews.
Partner with human resources to develop and grow a dynamic bench of engineering talent in the organization, drive productivity, satisfaction, career development opportunities and a performance culture.
Ability to multi-task across a broad range of activities and use disciplined problem solving technique to resolve issues.
Ability to maintain a pulse on state-of-the-art technological developments across several core areas.
Demonstrated effectiveness with recruiting, managing and mentoring highly talented engineering resources disbursed across multiple global regions and teams.
Past experience with "make/buy" analysis and product portfolio core competency assessment.
Experience with technology transfer, program/project management.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in an engineering related field is required, masters degree preferred.
Minimum of 5 years experience leading new product introductions in an engineering/technology organization.
5 years experience managing international teams of design engineers in a global environment.
At least 7 to 10 years in an engineering management position that included direct responsibility for department budgeting, P&L.
Experience with goal-setting, and employee talent management & development.
Additional Qualifications:
Excellent leadership skills, including the ability to drive change, instill a performance culture, and build employee engagement while ensuring program milestone fidelity.
Engineering domain experience in the Industrial, Aerospace, and/or Transportation market segments is highly desired.
Proven experience reviewing various engineering solutions, design and process reviews.
Experience with switches, sensors and packaging products and technologies desired.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience preparing and delivering presentations to executive leadership.
Six Sigma methodology & tools desired; program management and/or Six Sigma certification preferred.
Must be available for significant travel including international travel.
