ENGINEER 1 - MANUFACTURING
Implements, and manages an ergonomic team that identifies and quantifies ergonomic risk factors; brainstorms, prototypes and implements methods to reduce risk while utilizing lean manufacturing concepts. Genie Industries is a $2 billion (revenue) division of Terex Corporation. Genie, based in Redmond, WA, has approximately 4500 team members spread throughout the globe, though Redmond is the primary location, with 3000+ team members across the corporate campus. The parent company, Terex, is a $7.5 billion (revenue) company that manufactures, sells and services capital equipment for the mining and construction industries world wide. Terex is a Fortune 500 company, with a listed stock on the NYSE. The company is headquartered in Westport, CT. The company has grown rapidly over the past four years and is in the midst of a transition from a privately held small company, to a publicly owned big company. Management desires to maintain much of the small company informality while implementing some of the large company disciplines that are required in today's environment. Responsible for supporting operations within Building 2 as a member of the Manufacturing Engineering Team. This position will play a critical role in helping set up manufacturing lines for new/redesigned products. This position will also help design and build key manufacturing equipment. Some cross-training is required. Candidate must demonstrate/provide the following skills and services: - Project Management - 4 year engineering degree - Technical expertise to perform root cause analysis- eliminating problems through design analysis, ergonomic issues, and machine/process improvements, including machine purchase requirements. - Excellent problem solving skills. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to teach others. - Ability to work independently, competently, and within a team. - Ability to coordinate and provide direction for project team members. - Ability to evaluate, develop, and implement improvements quickly. - Understanding of Genie Production System/Lean Manufacturing concepts and goals. - Participate in strategic Rapid Improvement Processes(RIPs) - Ability to teach, develop, document, update and improve Standard Work. - Develop and evaluate Engineering Change Request (ECR)/Engineering Change Notice (ECN)/ Special Manufacturing Instruction (SMI) proposals/processes for production, including design improvements, and prototyping. - Flexibility to work overtime, different shifts, and travel, on short notice as necessary. - Ability to work well under compressed time constraints. - Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects at one time. - Understanding of how to utilize precision measurements. DESIRED SKILLS: - Hands-on engineering experience in a fabrication/ assembly shop environment. - Experience with pneumatic tools.
