Electrician/Maintenance

Primary Job Function: 

Is responsible for all Electrical work and sub-contracting work.  In addition, responsible for developing, implementing, and administering all aspects of facilities maintenance activities (including housekeeping), security, and Safety/Environmental for all Karmann USA facilities.

 

Roles and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

· Maintenance activities in electrical, water, HVAC, generator(s), elevators, and various systems to provide uninterrupted service at each Karmann facility.

· Responsible for facility and equipment inspections with state, federal and insurance agencies.

· Responsible for maintenance and documentation of all certifications, permits, licenses, etc. as they relate to facilities and safety.

· Assures all sub-contractors are informed of applicable visitor guidelines & are trained in compliance with our Contractor Safety Program.

· Responsible to assure the security system is operational or respond to issues and work with the supplier to resolve any issues (including alarm systems).

· Responsible for the coordination of the installation of new key safety processes/programs or facilities equipment (Electrical and Miosha compliant).

· Inspect and evaluate work in progress by outside contractors.

· Responsible for building keys and duplication based on company policy.

· Assist in the installation and maintenance of all electrical equipment.

· Learn all aspects of installation and maintenance of electrical/electronic equipment.

· Wire equipment from main panel to job complete.  Bend conduit as needed.

· Program electrical/electronic equipment (e.g. electric torque equipment).

· General maintenance (work on fixtures, change light bulbs, paint, clean, move equipment/objects, help other departments, preventative maintenance).

· Know when to raise the red flag to your department manager.

· Meet acceptable performance standards, both personal and professional and adhere to company policies & procedures.

· Perform daily activities in according to departmental policies and procedures.

· Disposal of hazardous waste.

· Efficiently utilize equipment and materials to promote/improve safety, housekeeping, quality, and reduce scrap.  

 

· Assist with the execution of company initiatives (Lean Manufacturing, Kaisen, TPM, Suggestion program, etc.)

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Strong background in hands on facilities maintenance and repair.  Well developed interpersonal, organization and communication skills.  .  Knowledgeable of OSHA, MIOSHA, and Environmental regulations.  Working knowledge of National Standard Electrical Codes & Electrical blueprint reading.  Must be detail and results oriented. Proficient in all MS Office modules (Power Point, Excel, Project, etc.). The ability to provide a friendly, professional, service-oriented environment is essential.  Must have a desire and be comfortable working in an automotive manufacturing environment. 

 

Budgetary Responsibilities:

Minimize expenditures through efficient use of manpower, materials, maintenance and equipment within area of accountability.  Work to reduce utility and facilities costs.  Utilize good judgment and business sense keeping expenditures to a minimum and be conscious of labor and material costs.
