THE COMPANY:

(UCI).  We are a leading full-line supplier of engine management/ignition control components.  Our products provide critical information to the engine's computer to insure continued engine performance to the manufacturer’s specifications.  We have been providing quality auto parts to the North American aftermarket since 1903.  Today our product line covers all vehicles found in the North American aftermarket; we provide over 30,000 SKU’s to the professional mechanic as well as the automotive home mechanic. THE OPPORTUNITY:

Due to a promotion, our Electronics facility, located in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, has an immediate opening for a Sr. Engineer to supervise our electronics engineering lab and function as the facility quality engineer.  This does not include administrative activities such as updating the QA manual; this is handled by the Wells QA department.  As Sr. Engineer, you will be responsible for durability and validations studies, providing corrective action for customer, in-house and vendor quality issues etc.  This position reports to the VP of Electronics. 

 

You will supervise 5 technicians in the lab providing leadership and technical expertise to the lab technicians.  You will provide guidance regarding the setup and monitoring of electrical quality tests of analog and digital based circuits.  This includes determining which tests will be appropriate, the appropriate test procedure and developing appropriate results documentation to meet TS16949 requirements.  The lab also researches customer complaints.

As the engineer assisting QA with quality issues You will assist in developing metrics associated with quality performance trends, facilitate process control and defect prevention, and maintain supplier quality by reporting on performance, issuing corrective actions etc.

 

REQUIREMENTSA Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering and a strong background and understanding of analog and digital electronics.  Requires at least several years of experience in quality systems and supervision.Effective communication skills.  This means communicating with customers in a spirit of partnership rather than confrontation.Understanding of SPC as it applies to manufacturing electronic circuits.Understanding of failure analysisUnderstanding of automotive validation test procedures and automotive APQP quality systems.  Past experience with ISO standards and processes; experience with TS16949 preferred.Strong problem solving skillsStrong organization skillsPrefer previous experience supervising lab technicians including setting goals and expectations for the work group.
