Engineering Analyst/FEA

Altair Engineering is currently working with one of our customers located in Fort Wayne, Indiana, who are seeking Engineer Analysts for permanent career opportunities at their facility.



Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

Additional Requirements:
- MSME with two years experience or   BSME with five years,  experience performing structural analysis.
- Able to travel overnight for occasional trips and training.
 
Required  Skills:

- Positive Attitude, Ethics, and International Values which support our company's values and a healthy, high performance culture.
- Experience using FEA codes such as MSC/Nastran for diverse structural simulations, especially chassis systems and sub-systems.
- Knowledge of structural materials and strain-based fatigue.
- Theoretical background/courses in applied mechanics and statistics.
- Experience using FEA pre/post processors such as HyperMesh.
- Experience interfacing with 3D designsoftware such as Unigraphics.
- Knowledge of experimental stress measurement and data acquisition methods.
- Experience using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other Windows PC-based software, other operating systems, the Internet and programming languages. 
- Good interpersonal communication skills; both written and verbal.
- Ability to work in a global team environment, lead concept design development, and direct work of internal and off-shore analysts.
- Truck product knowledge.
- Experience with, advanced analysis techniques particularly non-linear analysis using Abaqus.
- Ability to learn and develop new analysis tools and select appropriate analysis tools.
- Ability to understand/coordinate/use Applied Mechanics Lab test results.
- Initiative and persistence in problem solving.- Lead

Job Responsibilities:Conducts test or analysis projects, for the purpose of product development, with direction of higher classifications. Conducts a variety of tests or mathematical analysis using computer aided engineering tools and data management systems, where established procedures and standards are sometimes lacking, to demonstrate the relative merits of alternative designs.

Develops test or analysis procedures, along with performance criteria, where they are lacking. Uses skills in computer aided engineering, analysis, and modeling to apply engineering theory to system development. Develops alternative solutions and recommendations considering target costs, conflicting requirements, and other constraints. Acts as a consultant in specialty area to all disciplines of engineers, technicians, designers, reliability and manufacturing, and develops the information required to complete assigned engineering projects. Coordinates various phases of projects, and guides and directs lower classifications.

Requires analysis of information and preparation of reports. Actively participates in or facilitates cross-functional team activities. Evaluates the relative merits of new technologies for the purpose of creating competitive advantage. Assists in coordinating and guiding the test and analysis activities of suppliers and outside engineering facilities.
