Engineering Technical Manager - Automotive Supplier - Interior Trim - SW Mich

Summit Polymers is an automotive supplier of injection molded interior trim, which specializes in the engineering, manufacture and assembly of feature based registers, consoles and trim panels. We currently have a great opportunity to join our team as an Engineering Technical Manager at Summit's Technical Center in Portage, Mi. 

 

This is a commodity specific technical position responsible for leading set based concurrent engineering and building a knowledge database in the product development process. The successful candidate must have strong people and team management skills. This position will work closely with the Chief Engineer and the corresponding Manufacturing Technical Leader and they will be responsible for managing, directing and supporting designers and engineers.

 

Under general supervision is responsible for the following major tasks: Participate in and lead the product development.Direct and support Project Engineers and Designers.Lead development of trade-off curves.Initiate engineering studies, evaluate current production products and processes, and benchmark competitor’s products and processes.Support and manage the technical development of designers and project engineers.Support program management.Support Chief Engineer in meeting program timing and gross margin requirements. Facilitate part design reviews.Participate in mold design reviews.Interface with manufacturing to resolve design related production issues.Support completion and delivery of PPAP packages to the customer.
