Environmental Specialist

MEG is currently seeking an experienced and innovative individual to fill the position of Environmental Specialist at our East Liberty location.

 

Essential Job Functions:Responsible for daily ISO 14001 Environmental and Environmental Management System (EMS) activitiesStormwater pollution preventionWell water treatment and testingSpill control and countermeasuresAir compliance trackingProvide environmental expertise for new projects and project improvementsBacks up Transportation & Warehouse Safety SpecialistsLead continuous improvement efforts and assess management of change requirementsFoster and develop environmental & safety policies and proceduresTrain and assist department leaders to maintain environmental data collection and risk minimization activitiesEnsure compliance with all federal, state and customer environmental & safety regulations or requirements, including recordkeeping and preparing internal and external reportsParticipate in EPA & OSHA inspections and conduct internal conformance auditsPrepare and submit environmental regulatory compliance reports, including SERC, SARA, Title V, SPCC, SDWA and NPDES reportsCompile and analyze environmental data collected by contractors or site departments and determine compliance and data trendsParticipate in First Responder Emergency Response Team, with ERC authorityParticipate on Safety Management System (SMS) teamRecommend, coordinate and review associate educational and work practice programs on  environmental & safety topicsCoordinate and report incident summaries and reviews



 

Requirements:BS in environmental engineering, science or equivalent experienceThree (3) - Five (5) years manufacturing, warehouse and/or assembly safety and environmental dutiesExperience with Hazmat team, incident response, regulatory reporting, environmental & safety training a mustExperience with Environmental Management System, Behavior Based Safety, EPA and local environmental liaison activities a plus along with Title V compliance Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and organization skillsStrong PC skills (Microsoft Office suite)
