General Manager - North America

Our client is a major supplier of Interior and Engine components for the Automotive industry. With a genuine global footprint and key figures that include sales turnover in the region of €850 million, more than 6,000 employees, presence in almost 20 countries across the globe and 20% Year-on-Year growth, they are a leading company within their product categories. North America (including Mexico) is integral to the organisation’s international growth and development plans and, as a result, they are now seeking a Managing Director/General Manager (NAFTA).   The role:  You will be the no. 1 legal representative of the business in the NAFTA region with Profit & Loss responsibility for the entire entity. You will lead a Commercial and Technical team in the U.S. with a focus on developing and strengthening relationships with the major Automotive OEMs by defining the best technical and economic choices whilst having a central role to play with regard to price negotiation and any quality or delivery issues. You will simultaneously oversee the management and development of 2 manufacturing plants in Mexico supplying both U.S. and Mexican OEM customers whilst driving continuous improvement and process optimization methods including the likes of 5S, SMED, TPM and Kanban. Your role will report to the International Director who oversees all of the organisation’s overseas commercial and manufacturing operations.  The requirements:  A proven track record of business development at a senior level in the U.S. Automotive industry is essential. You will need to have demonstrated a flair for people management through your career in the Automotive industry either in an Operations of Commercial environment. Communication skills and relationship-building skills of the highest level are requirements as well as an entrepreneurial spirit. A degree in an Engineering discipline is essential. On the other hand, an MBA would be desirable. You must be either based in the Detroit area, or able to relocate there.
