As of today, the Group employs over 40,000 people. Now, Mahindra’s Automotive Sector has opportunities for global product development for out-of-the-box thinkers and those who come on board will have the unique opportunity of developing SUV and Commercial Vehicles (light, medium and heavy) for global markets. Currently we have an opening for the position of Head- Engine Design & Development. The position is based in Mumbai (India) Key Responsibilities: - Design and develop engine that meets customer aspirations, Legislative norms, vehicular requirements to compete domestic / global competition with contemporary technology and manufacturing practices. - Create a road map of emission readiness to deliver fully homologated products.- Facilitate formulating product strategy to achieve sector level objectives.- Prepare & execute product plan in line with the strategy.- Benchmark products and select technologies, product specifications and product deliverables with regards to the Global-domestic norms.- Design & develop engines for various vehicle platforms by agreeing to the quality, cost & time targets.- Ensure & establish effective design reviews using appropriate cross functional team members with adequate domain knowledge and experience. - Effectively review program and provides leadership to project teams by de bottle necking issues in a proactive manner.- Achieve cost competitiveness on existing aggregates through use of value engineering concepts (cost of assemble, functional cost analysis, etc) and drive components / subsystems.- Liaison with agencies like SIAM, ACMA, ARAI to formulate norms Area of Expertise / Skill set:- In-depth knowledge of automotive products and engine in domestic & global Market.- Experience of Diesel (CRDI, TCI), Gasoline (TCI, MPFI, GDI), Alternate fuels (CNG, LPG, Biodiesel), Hybrid, Steady state / Vehicle / Emission, Calibration, EOBD / DBD II. Knowledge of world wide technical facilities, development agencies like AVL, Ricardo, ARAI etc.- Knowledge of CAE, CFD, NVH, simulation tools and technologies- Knowledge of alternate fuels like CNG, LPG, Hydrogen, advance engine, alternate propulsion, hybrid Technology.- Knowledge of analytical tools like Cameo, Puma, AVL drive, FIRE, Boost, Valve dyne, Glide, GT power and their application.- In depth knowledge in combustion technology, after treatment systems, Engine friction, Emission & CO2 norms.- Knowledge of engine integration with other vehicle systems.Person ProfileQualification: B.E. / M. Tech or MS in Mechanical Engineering with IC Engines. Age: 45 + years Experience: 18 to 25 years experience in the automotive industry with the domain experience in Engines with respect to working on the existing products and developing new products. Candidates who are nearing the age of retirement or who have retired and are experts in Engine domain could also apply for a fixed term contract up to 3 years.
