International Trade Compliance Specialist
QUALIFICATIONS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThis position supports the compliance function and is directly involved in ensuring compliance with US import regulations with regard to: classification, valuation, quantity, origin declaration, Free Trade Agreement eligibility, C-TPAT requirements, and other areas as identified by the Senior Manager International Trade Compliance. The position will assist the Senior Manager by coordinating tasks such as: post-entry audit, collection, and review of import-related documentation, classification support, compliance database tools development and maintenance, and special projects tied to import compliance. This position will be involved in the development and roll out of an updated, comprehensive import compliance manual, along with trainings to the various departments on aspects of the manual that touch upon and impact their businesses.REQUIREMENTS: Prepare Customs Invoices and NAFTA letters as required. Coordinate the issuance of EPA letters with Daimler Trucks North America Compliance Group as needed. Prepare reconciliation for units and gliders at the Mexico border. Work with brokers to verify country of origin for shipments entering the United States. Solicit NAFTA Certificates and Australian (AU) Verification Statements from suppliers on an annual basis. Update the NAFTA Certificate Database in Daimler Trucks North America’s proprietary Electronic Customs Compliance System and the hard copy files. Create and maintain an Access database for AU Verification Statements. Update certificates as suppliers issue amendments throughout the year, as well as secondary solicitations required each year for Regional Value Content Analyses of each Truck Manufacturing Plant. Assist the Senior Manager, International Trade Compliance in the Annual NAFTA Elections and RVC Analyses. Coordinate with outside consultants to document internal audits compliance of each broker by transmitting audit report cards and ensuring receipt of required entry amendments Implement internal processes and procedural controls to meet US and Canadian regulations regarding valuation, classification, quantity, origin, marking, record retention, etc. as well as Sarbanes Oxley requirements. Assist the Senior Manager, International Trade Compliance with developing export processes and controls. Special projects as assigned. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in related field. At least one- year experience in the import or export field. Demonstrated understanding and working knowledge of U.S. Customs procedures, trade practices, and U.S. import and export regulations is key to this position. Previous NAFTA experience. Candidate must be detail-oriented, possess strong problem solving skills and be process oriented. Ideal candidate will have excellent organization and communication skills, both written and oral. Successful candidate must be able to set priorities to achieve desired results, communicate issues effectively throughout organization to build consensus, and work independently as well as collaboratively. Candidate will need to be able to work across all disciplines within the organization to answer questions and resolve issues that arise throughout the supply chain for imported product. Strong PC skills, especially Microsoft Applications are required. Experience in automotive industry and import compliance environment is a plus. Must enjoy working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
