Lab Engineer

Our client is a supplier to the automotive industry.  We are currently in search of a Lab Engineer for a facility located in the midwest (sight will be revealed during interview).  This individual will be responsible for the technical operations of a new material lab.  Responsibilities include:

-Overall technical operations of the material lab

-manage personnel and projects within the lab

-develop an effective material testing laboratory (will launch new lab) including materials evaluation and investigate capabilities of material to support the manufacturing operations

-implement a standard procedure for conducting and reporting non-routine physical testing

-establish and maintain company materials testing procedures and methods.  Correlate these with accepted technical society and other sources of test methods (ASTM, etc.) including customer, supplier and other divisions

-maintain raw material specifications and statistical QC testing procedures for materials procurement and manufcturing application

-implement and continuously update computerized test data storage and retrieval (data base management)

-coordinate testing with outside laboratories

-prepare necessary documents and do corrective actions for A2LA accreditation

-orders supplies and equipment for the lab

-achieve and maintain ISO 17025 requirements

This position may require some overnight travel (5-10%).  Ideal candidate will posses a BS Degree in Chemistry, Physics or related field plus 5 years experience testing raw materials that are utilized in automotive interior components.
