Logistics Engineer

We have an excellent opportunity for you to join a growing global automotive supplier as a Logistics Engineer at our Auburn Hills, Michigan location.

OVERVIEW:

 

To assist in the coordination of logistics standards to ensure that all Benteler Automotive facilities follow global and regional standards.  Accountable for facility layouts, cost studies and material flow standards.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  Manage new facility container development for both inbound and outbound materials.Ensure plans meet plant budget, maximize material handling and limits transportation costs.Implement material flow standards that will allow higher return on investment, improve operator efficiencies and reduce repetitive movement injuries.Manage new container development with product groups and plant to assure compliance with regional container standards and ergonomics.Provide support to sales department with new business quotes and annual transportation costs.Determines the impact of shipping and transportation costs and supports the engineering and development teams by recommending improvements for new products.Provides purchasing department with specifications on type and quantity of containers for the specific program they are supporting.Ensures that material handling equipment is ordered correctly.Works with the Quality Department to solve quality issues with new and existing problems.Creates and reviews Regional Corporate Standards with plant and corporate personnel that will be impacted by a proposed corporate standard.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

 

Bachelor’s degree in Packaging, Industrial Engineering or related field

 

3-5 years experience in an automotive environment

 

Working knowledge of the Material Handling environment, JIT and JIS systems development, AutoCAD and general plant operations.

 

Knowledge of Domestic and International Transportation ideal.
