Logistics Process Engineer

General Parts Inc. / CARQUEST with its corporate headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina, is the premier supplier of replacement parts, accessories, supplies and equipment for virtually all makes of domestic and foreign automobiles, as well as light and heavy-duty trucks, off-road equipment, buses, recreational vehicles and agricultural equipment.

 

CARQUEST currently has a need for a Logistics Process Engineer to work within the Logistics and Supply Chain department. 

 

 

Review operational flow and recommend process improvement and optimization to improve company’s efficiency and profitability.  Design and develop new processes, tooling and work standards. Spend time time developing more efficient operations processes through the introduction of improved procedures and the deployment of improved systems. Prepare presentations to present to upper management to initiate changes to facilitate improved productivity, quality and cost savings.

Duties and Responsibilities

1.  Continually research, develop, and implement solutions to improve distribution processes that aid in promoting company profitability. 

2.  Lean and coordinate distribution center process improvement across the distribution network. 

3.  Define, scope, and recommend projects that will positively impact logistics costs.

4.  Participate in strategic initiatives to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the supply chain. 

5.  Take the initiative to investigate needs, evaluate alternatives, analyze and recommend productivity improvement opportunities to senior management and operations.
6. Operational design, describing the flow of work and material

7.  Interface with Global Sourcing Suppliers and assess impact and relationship on existing network and recommend appropriate changes.

8.  Logistics change agent responsible for coordinating and strategically leading supply chain performance improvement across and within company stores and distribution centers

9. Work with operating leaders and teams to uncover and assess process improvement opportunities for GPI and its CARQUEST partners

 Hiring Requirements/Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

2 years distribution operations experience, 5 years in lieu of degree

 

 Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of the distribution industry, principles of inventory management, general accounting practices, purchasing techniques, and elements of the physical distribution system.  Excellent written and verbal skills.  Experience with Microsoft Office applications.  Excellent skills with Microsoft Excel.
