Manager / Vehicle Maintenance & Damage Manager - Boston, MA
Avis Budget Group, a global leader in the travel services industry is searching for a dedicated Mainteance & Damage Manager to work at our Boston location. This exciting position will manage daily operation functions on and off airport to ensure maximization of fleet utilization, incremental revenue, customer satisfaction and employee management. Responsibilities will include but will not be limited to: Essential Duties and Responsibilities Coordinates automotive damage appraisals/repairs and all activities related to the mechanical repairs and maintenance of our Avis & Budget fleet vehicles Manages vendor relationships to verify that vehicles are repaired in accordance with damage appraisals and to our company standards (equipment, insurance, repair procedures, etc.). Ensures all repairs are properly documented in accordance with company policy (estimates, repair/sell authorization). Ensures high-quality mechanical and service repairs and minimizes comebacks. Conducts periodic spot checks of completed jobs for thoroughness and quality. Manages vendor/provider relationships to negotiate prices and terms of business agreements. Reviews and submits proposals to/from vendors to ensure the timely turnaround of damages vehicles in the most cost-effective manner. Ensures sufficient vendors are available to meet the needs of the fleet. Manages the research, testing, and procurement of company owned and operated automotive fleet repair equipment, materials, supplies, and parts required to maintain fleet, garages and yard facilities. Reviews business plans, financial statements, productivity and capacity reports, quality assurance reports, idle vehicle reports, and customer complaint logs and addresses any problems within specified areas. Performs various activities related to the ordering, receipt, control and distribution of auto and repair parts, tools, and supplies and/or assists the Parts Supervisor with these tasks. Ensures adequate levels of fleet inventory based on service levels and rental projections for various time frames. Forecasts how many vehicles will be completed by Maintenance and Damage for rental needs. Assigns extra M&D staff to locations needing assistance, and notifies managers responsible for unavailable vehicles (e.g. Turnback) to resolve M&D problems Partners with Manager, Turnback to ensure that manufacturer inspectors are accurate and consistent in their damage appraisal. Prepares salvage matrix based on established guidelines in determining vehicles non-repairable. Establishes the criteria for repairing vehicles under our company warranty based on past practices, policies, and individual situations. Communicates with operations management in identifying collision damages and the proper reporting of damages. Coordinates the inspection of all repaired vehicles upon return from repair shops to ensure all work meets company and manufacturer standards. Coordinates the investigation of all vehicles in out-of-service status to determine extent of service or repair needed. Initiates orders and assigns M&D staff to efficiently return car to for-rent status. Controls all new car deliveries to ensure proper prepping, tagging, and numbering. Ensures that new vehicles are inspected and a sticker is applied to prepare them for rental.Required Experience High School Degree plus 2-4 years of college preferred (or equivalent in education, experience or training). Minimum of one year of supervisory management experience required; three or more years of supervisory management experience preferred in a service-oriented field.Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Effective supervisory, communication, organizational, and creative problem solving skills. Ability to effectively interact with customers and the public. Ability to work various shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.
