                           Product Development Engineering Manager

 

 

Position Summary:

Formulates the product development program to develop the most profitable new products to sourcing and manufactured in China. Supervises technical design analysis, develops process plans and production methods for new products prior to sharing with our China office headquarters.

 

Position Responsibility:

 

Analysis of technical design of new products to thoroughly prepare an RFQ to be shared with our China operations.





Travel to Shanghai, China at least 2 times each year to evaluate manufacturing operations and outside supplier development.  





Establishes/coordinates stress, weight and quality specifications along with the Director of Quality.





Prepares cost estimates affected by designs and design changes. As required, may also be responsible for the investigation of new sources of raw materials or production resources. May also analyze customer service problems and make appropriate recommendations.





Approves material and process specifications and investigates service/engineering problems.





Studies and recommends techniques to improve existing products.





Recommends capital expenditures along with production methods for new products.

 

Reviews and evaluates results and conclusions of research projects.

 

Conducts investigations directed toward standardization of product parts or components. Investigates and approves use of substitute parts or materials.

 

Keeps abreast of new developments, materials or processes for use in adaptations to company products.

  

Typical Education: B.S. Degree (Engineering) or equivalent.

 

Typical Experience: 8-10 years.

 

Position Responsibility: Under general supervision plans, conducts and supervises assignments. Considerable latitude for assignments that are varied and somewhat difficult.
