Metallurgical Engineering Analyst
This leading manufacturer has an excellent opportunity for a Metallurgical Engineering Analyst.Perform Metallurgical Failure Analysis and Materials Evaluation to help improve the designs and quality of Automotive Products. Conducts test or analysis projects, which may be part of a broader project, for the purpose of meeting test objectives, with general direction from higher classifications. Conducts a variety of tests or analysis using analytical instrumentation, simulation and data management systems, where established procedures and standards are sometimes lacking, to demonstrate the relative merits of various alternatives. Develops test or analysis procedures where there are no current established procedures and makes recommendations on performance criteria. Uses skills in technical analysis and applies engineering and science theory as required to meet test objectives and application development. Identifies problems, seeks solutions and makes recommendations based on test objectives, target costs, program requirements, and other constraints. Confers with, and acts as a consultant in specialty area to engineers, technicians, and designers, as well as reliability and manufacturing, to develop the information required to complete assigned projects. Edit current specifications or assist in the development of new ones. Sets up, maintains, operates, and guides others in operation of test equipment operation, calibration, data collection, analysis, and preparation of test reports. Inspects, observes, documents, and reports test results with conclusions and recommendations based on interpretation of results. Participates on cross-functional team activities and plant trials. Directs, evaluates and assists suppliers and supports engineering and manufacturing facilities. Develops new and improved test methods and quality procedures. 3 to 5 years of experience in Failure Analysis related to the Transportation Industry. Exposure to advanced materials/fracture characterization techniques and recommending materials solutions to failure problems Experience and knowledge in application of advanced instruments such as SEM/EDS, Auger Microscopy & NDT Knowledge of Corrosion Testing BS degree in Metallurgical or Materials Engineering is required.
