PRINCIPAL SALES ENGINEEER

Position Summary: Manage and expand the Automotive Business Unit's penetration and profitability within the key customer base of direct responsibility through technical competence, excellent customer service and strong relationship building.Responsibilities: 1. Manage and coordinate all direct sales activities of those key accounts2. Motivate customers’ general, technical and purchasing management to make purchasing decisions favorable to The Timken Corporation3. Develop and coordinate programs and identify products that will economically benefit both the customers and The Timken Corporation,  working closely with members of Purchasing, Engineering, Manufacturing, Order Fulfillment, Marketing & Business Development and New Business & Advanced Product Development to achieve these goals4. Prepare accurate long and short range sales forecasts which are critical to proper production planning5. Identify problems impeding favorable customer purchasing decisions and recommending possible solutions to those impediments6. Assist Credit Department in collecting past due accounts7. Resolve product claims with Manager approval8. Develop and maintain detailed knowledge of customers and their capabilities9. Develop and maintain detailed knowledge of competitors and their capabilities10. Assist in the development and training of new Sales Engineers in support of these accountabilities Qualifications: Education:  Bachelor degree in Mechanical engineeringSales and/or Marketing experience,  at least 2 years experience necessary An expert in market knowledge and competitorsMust be computer literate.
