The Cary, North Carolina facility, just outside of Raleigh, has an opening beginning in May to run through September for a contract Product Engineer.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Product Engineer is responsible for maintaining the design integrity of products released from Design Engineering. This person also manages the product line along with the Production Engineering Team with special emphasis on customer requests, product manufacturability and material requirements with consideration given to the overall cost of the product.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Interact with customer to review customer requirements and translate those requirements into a defined product specification.
2. Confirm feasibility of customer requirements with impacted functions (i.e. Manufacturing, PD&S, Quality Engineering, Materials, Lab, Metrology, Supplier Technical Support).
3. Validate change requests to determine effects on product performance, manufacturability, costs and quality. This may require coordinating the efforts of the Reliability and Test Lab, Production and Materials as well as analyzing the data generated.
4. Create design specifications, working with the Materials Department, suppliers and STS to identify the significant or critical characteristics on the drawing.
5. Implement standard modified product into production along with the Concurrent Engineering Team. This will include items 1-4 listed above as well as advanced quality planning items such as DFMEA, PFMEA and PPAP builds.
6. Process engineering sample requests. This will include reviewing the customer specifications, defining the product, identifying special components required and coordinating with the Lab and Materials to build customer samples.
7. Process component tooling orders by issuing an ECO to create a released drawing and coordinating with the Molding Department or Materials to track the tooling to implementation.
8. Initiate and submit ECO's driven by design, manufacturing, material changes, quality improvements, customer requests or cost reductions.
9. Participate in team problem solving on quality issues.
10. Evaluate parts/processes that are not to specification. Request the appropriate corrective action or write a deviation request until corrective action can be implemented.
11. Maintain accuracy of Bills of Materials by periodically comparing actual quantities used in Production to the Bill of Material values.
12. Assist Production in evaluating line fallout and life test failures.
13. Participate in weekly product team meetings to review and define action to be taken on present product and implementation of new product.
14. Participate on Concurrent Engineering teams for new product development and product implementation providing team leadership from P1 to PPAP.
15. Provide leadership in the area of continuous improvement regarding product cost and performance.
16. Provide ongoing technical support to our customers in a timely manner.
17. Maintains records and files related to own work. Organizes and records work efforts to assure timely accomplishment of tasks.
18. Periodically checks work area and maintains a neat and orderly work area. Observes company policies related to dress, appearance, attendance, employment, etc.
19. Performs other duties as assigned. Job duties are subject to change as directed by management.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
1. BSME or BSEE.
