Parts office Assistant

SUMMARY Orders, purchases, and issues spare parts for earthmoving division by performing the following duties. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provide backup phone coverage for parts counter personnel. Write purchase orders. Orders parts via computer, phone or fax machine. Orders backordered parts for customers and/or shop as a backup position. Handles most office paperwork for supervisor and parts counter personnel. Compares invoices against requisitions to verify quality and quantity of merchandise received. Keeps records of parts received and issued, and inventories parts in storeroom periodically. Interpret computer print-outs. Requisitions novelty items from central department. Labor entry. Back-up inventory control. Submit claims. Other duties may be assigned. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must have a valid California Drivers License and a clean DMV report. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Data entry computer skills necessary.  Must be able to perform in a businesslike and professional manner at all times.  Ability to be organized and prioritize at all times. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to sit.  The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate Since 1946, Spherion has been helping talented individuals find rewarding job opportunities that drive excellence in their career.
