Pilot Factory Senior Engineer

SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS:

 

Reports to:  Sr. Manager of Advanced Manufacturing Process and Equipment

Supervises: Project Engineers

Directly works with: Pilot factory operators, equipment engineers, plant manufacturing

 

PRINCIPLE OBJECTIVE:

 

Direct the Pilot Factory initiative focused at improving the production readiness process by reducing DV & PV testing failures, improving manufacturability of transducer designs, and facilitating the concurrent development of the product and the process.

 

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

1.  Manage the New Product Introduction procedure for the Piloting process.

Ensure that all converged components, materials and processes are followed for new products.

Identify and make relevant departments aware of any aspect of the proposed designs that deviates from standard designs, materials and processes.

Manage the Pilot processes which will involve helping to ensuring builds are completed on time, ensuring component, tooling and equipment viability, capture of manufacturing documentation such as Control Plans, Visual Aids and PFMEA’s.

Responsible for ensuring that all the Process specifications are created for new equipment or processes required.

Ensure Design Engineers adhere to best practices and manufacturability guidelines.

 

2.  Improve DV pass rates by:

  Insure all failures seen in ED builds are addressed prior to DV.

Continuously update the knowledge base with design and manufacturing best practices.

Measuring DV parts and addressing issues

Document all issues with component parts and review with Design Engineering prior to DV builds.  Ensure all deviations are documented and approved by Design Engineering

Capture and document all critical process parameters during DV builds.

Transfer all critical knowledge to the final production facility.

Process Best Practice Design Reviews

 

 

3.  Improve PV Pass Rates through:

Close all DV build issues before PV runs.

Transfer all critical knowledge to the final production facility.

Process Best Practice Design Reviews evaluating the process against Knowledge Base requirements

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education: BS in Engineering

 

Experience:  Minimum of five years experience in Tier-1 automotive environment.  Must have a thorough understanding of tooling and equipment design.  Six Sigma Green Belt and experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis is preferred.  Should be capable of using Autocad or similar design software.
