Process Engineer

Commercial Vehicle Group, a recognized leader in commercial vehicle solutions for the commercial, industrial, municipal, construction, agricultural, and marine industries is currently recruiting for a Process (Cost Improvement) Engineer, for our facility located in Chillicothe, Ohio. Our Chillicothe location designs and manufactures the interior upholstery systems for the commercial vehicle market.

SUMMARY

Provides engineering direction and support in a lead role for continuous improvement cost savings initiatives within the manufacturing environment. Provides engineering support as may be required to other projects or initiatives.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned as required.

§ Support the organization’s efforts toward continuous improvement

§ Analyze existing layouts, processes, material flow in search of cost improvement initiatives. Develop and implement approved recommendations. 

§ Identify any problems with the implementation or available resources that may affect the schedule, budget or impact cost and communicate such problems accordingly

§ Provide support to Production to ensure product is fabricated and assembled in the most efficient and cost effective method.

§ Interface with others in the organization to jointly determine opportunity for improvements.

§ Analyze the cost impact of a new design or process and communicate results to Plant Manager.

§ Provide engineering support as may be required to other engineering projects and or needs through out the plant.

§ Willing and able to cross-train in other positions within Engineering

§ Ensure compliance to the QMS (Quality Management System).

§ Ensure that clean and organized work areas are maintained at all times.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Candidates should possess an Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering and a mininum of two years related product/process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Should also possess the following competencies: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.  Able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; Develop alternative solutions; Present numerical data effectively and accurately; Work with integrity and ethically; Follow the Company’s policies and procedures; Prioritize and plan work activities; Use time efficiently; Approach others in a tactful manner; Accept responsibility for own actions; Deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events; Be consistently at work and on time; Ensure work responsibilities are covered when absent; Arrive at meetings and appointments on time; and Ask for and offer help when needed.
