Product Design Engineer

/ Candidate will be responsible for selecting potential suppliers, implementing a program to establish product guidelines and defining performance requirements for selected engine, wheel end and filtration products. Candidate will revise, implement and improve a common Engineering Approval Process. Functional responsibilities will include the development of performance design parameters through testing and the correlation of actual test results to established product criteria. Additional responsibilities include First Article Approvals, Validation Testing, Failure Analysis, Customer Interfacing, Supplier Interfacing, and Simultaneous Engineering with the manufacturing plant.Candidate should be self-motivated and demonstrate a basic understanding of Product Development (Project Management, FMEA and Validation Plan and Report), Quality (Quality History Development and Measurement Systems) and Manufacturing Processes (FMEA, Process Flow, Control Plan and Production Approval Process). Engineering Degree, preferably BSME with 2 years minimum experience. * Possess and apply broad knowledge of product engineering principles, practices and procedures to the completion of difficult assignments.* Has the ability to conceptualize new designs and concepts* Working knowledge of manufacturing processes as they relate to automotive products* Interface with Sourcing, Marketing and Suppliers with little or no supervision* Actively participate in appropriate Technical Societies as they relate to product responsibility* Possess and apply a comprehensive knowledge engineering practices to the completion of complex assignments. May cross fields of expertise, e.g. materials engineering, metrology, etc.* Has the ability to perform detailed presentations, including presenting to Sourcing, Marketing and Management.* Implement new materials and designs to meet our product requirements.* Personal PC software skills are required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Minitab).
