Program Engineer with automobile industry experience and Japanese proficiency preferred

SANYO Energy (USA) Corporation, the world’s leading manufacturer of rechargeable batteries, has an immediate opening for a Program Engineer in our Detroit Technical Center.  The incumbent will coordinate activities involved in the fabrication, operation, application, installation and repair of mechanical and/or electromechanical products and systems.

             RESPONSIBILITIES include:    ·         Maintain close contact and communication with customer and SANYO engineering staff to resolve issues through data analysis and physical battery characteristics     ·         Work with sales staff to influence current and future business opportunities with existing and potential customers through technical presentations and customer meetings     ·         Discuss battery system and battery cell/module designs with customers     ·         Provide engineering support of DV testing including performing tests, coordinating design modifications (if necessary), collecting data and confirming results     ·         Support PPAP and mass production for new programs by preparing alerts and concerns for customer documents upon receiving customer approval



REQUIREMENTS:

Oral and written Japanese proficiency preferred Excellent oral and written English communication skills Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Automotive industry experience required MS Project proficiency preferred Knowledge of WERS preferred Analytical skills Customer service focus
