Purchasing Director / Global Sourcing * STEEL / METALS to 120K+
Occupation:Purchasing Director Excellent opportunity - Fast Growth - CPO Position - reports directly to Division President The Strategic Sourcing Director will lead the supply efforts for the company with $500M in revenues. Responsibilities include the development & execution of sourcing strategies that deliver competitive edge supplier performance in quality, delivery, productivity & service. The position is an individual contributor role with one direct report, with dotted line reporting relationship to four Plant Managers and Corporate Management and with a defined commercial improvement expectation. Purchases for steel, for formed and machined metal components, for some non-metallic components, for transportation & logistics and for certain indirect items are required. The SSD will also play a key contribution role with the Parent Company’s sourcing projects and on the associated cross-functional teams. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:· Develop and execute a business supply strategy for $40-50M of steel expenditures. · Develop & publish a business supply strategy for countries, sources and sourcing methods.· Achieve cost reduction targets for materials, productivity, quality, delivery, and service of 1-3% for steel, 3-5% all other commodities and 8-10% for indirect items.· Develop and execute sourcing strategies for new components and technologies within steel commodities including supporting the New Product Development organization.· Interface with company sales, operations, materials and engineering leaders to ensure agreement with, alignment to and support of sourcing strategies· Actively manage supplier performance, including quarterly performance reviews with key suppliers and maintaining an approved supplier list.· Drive commodity processes along with one direct report Supply Manager, including all aspects of career development and performance feedback.· Ensure effective and ongoing communications with all facilities and affected functions.· Travel 40 – 60% of the time.EDUCATION:· BS/BA required. MBA desirable. · Professionnel certification (CPM, APICS) a plus.· Working knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and Global Supply chains required.EXPERIENCE:· 7-10 years of supply chain (new product development, materials management, procurement) experience with increasing levels of responsibility. Experience in steel, steel related commodities & process and existing Global Supply base is required. · Demonstrated track record of developing & executing sourcing strategies with documented sustained ROI improvements.· Experience working and influencing in a multi-functional, matrix organization. · Strong negotiation skills and demonstrated applied techniques.· Excellent communication, teamwork, project management, interpersonal and presentation skills.· Self-starter with demonstrated ability to achieve results and respond to change.
