Our client is a manufacturer that specializes in steering systems and  driveline components.  

The Position

The Senior Direct Materials Buyer will lead in the cost reduction activities from design to completion with monthly reporting to Purchasing management.  They will support the supplier commodity engineers by defining cost reduction targets and negotiating cost sharing.  Draft, negotiates and implements long term contracts.  Responsible for the overall performance of their suppliers and their Quality, Cost and Delivery performance.  Stay updated to market trends and new technology and be able to communicate these updates to engineering and management. 

Requirements

A Bachelor’s Degree is a requirement for this position in engineering or business.  3 to 5 year of direct material purchasing experience in automotive industry, ability to manage a project and provide general guidance and training to less experienced buyers.  Ability to travel extensively.
