Senior Mechanical Engineer

NextWave Solar, Inc., a Florida company, is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer (SME) to help define and implement our leading edge technology power generation projects and bring it to market.  Our technology converts solar power to grid quality electricity. As our SME, you will have engineering responsibility for: designing our ultimate engine generation device developing new energy capabilities establishing designs and procedures improving and validating the next generation of solar concentrators and Stirling Engine-based power generation units perform assistance tasks for Marketing, Manufacturing, Quality Control and other departments as needed, to provide engineering support of product problems, cost reductions, product evaluations, quotation, design, testing, etc.

 

Our Dish-Engine solar thermal power generation system includes our solar dish concentrator and two-axis tracking system, a Stirling engine, electrical generator, engine/generator cooling system, and power supplies.  These are areas you should be familiar with to enable you to hit the ground running.  This is an exciting time to join this blazing-hot sector in the renewable power industry as we move from development into production.

We are looking for a self-starter who can ultimately build a dynamic team environment with proven ability to work independently on challenging and time-constrained projects. You will be responsible for the optimization of power generation concepts that match our technology and market opportunities. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will also be involved with planning in preparation of specifications, performance modeling and analysis, cost estimations, patents, and negotiation of supply and service contracts.

What you need for this position:

·  5+ years of current experience as a hands-on Mechanical Design Engineer (desirable)

 

·  Background in engine design, or Thermal background (PV industry background a plus)

 

·  Experience working within a small team environment. Also, experience working for a start-up company is preferred, but not essential. Self-Starters Needed!

 

·  You thrive in a fast-paced environment

 

·  BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, MS preferred
