Senior Specialist Benefits Administrator
Description:
Develops and administers complex benefit programs to include cafeteria plans and flexible spending accounts. Coordinates and plans the implementation and roll out of benefits programs such as CAFE/FLEX, disability insurance, pre and post retirement medical and life insurance. Develops standard operating procedures for benefit records. Encompasses benefit programs for both salaried and hourly employees (15,000 covered lives) with some responsibility for development of Integrated Disability Management Programs. Administers various employee benefit programs, such as group insurance (life, medical, dental, Rx, accident and disability, EAP). Develops periodic updates as required for benefits Summary Plan Descriptions and coordinates distribution to affected personnel. Develops and implements new benefit programs; arranges and conducts employee orientation presentations and enrollments. Serves as open enrollment, new enrollment, status change and update coordinator. Administers COBRA, death claim processing and term vested notices. Maintains statistical data relative to plan costs and prepares management summaries as needed. Completes and/or participates in global benefit benchmarking surveys. Resolves administrative problems with the carrier representatives. Oversees claims and eligibility investigations. Ensures that benefits programs are in compliance with the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA and relevant healthcare legislation. Prepares government report PBGC, Schedule SSA; assists comptroller's department in preparation of Form 5500 and related activities. Maintains Section 125 compliance. Performs Benefits Programs benchmarking for local and related industries and recommends changes to existing benefits programs as necessary. Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Specific Requirements:
1) BA/BS in Business Administration or related field AND ALL of the following:
2) 5+ years of Benefits Administration experience in a large organization (automotive or manufacturing experience preferred).
3) 3-5 years of experience in development, implementation, and administration of Cafeteria Plans and Flexible Spending Accounts.
4) 3-5 years of experience as the lead project manager for cross functional benefit program conversions or rollouts.
5) 3-5 years of computer experience including MS Access, Word, Excel.
6) 1-3 years of SAP experience (preferred).
7) Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) certification (preferred).
