Responsibilities

Individual will be responsible for performing the following:
• Compose business and community-related press releases, media alerts, public service announcements, internal emails, speeches and information kits.
• Distribute press releases and pitch stories to consumer and industry trade publications.
• Write and edit monthly newsletter for company-wide distribution
• Write and edit executive-level speeches, emails and newsletters
• Liaison with business units and executives for various public relations needs
• Assist with content and editing for internal and external we sites
• Serve as back-up for various communications-related tasks within the department
• Coordinate media inquiries/requests for interviews, information, fact checking, photos, etc. in a timely manner
• Support crisis management communications and assist with internal/external crisis communications.

  Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Public Relations or Communications or equivalent work experience
2. Five to seven years of communications/writing, public relations experience- at least two years directly dealing with media relations.
3. Exceptional writing skills with ability to compose press releases, feature stories, public service announcements, media alert, presentations, executive speeches and general correspondence.
4. Aptitude to understand complicated industry terminology
5. Strong editing skills and working knowledge of AP style
6. Superior interviewing  skills, ability to identify and research story ideas and gather information
7. Ability to work quickly and professionally with top executives on deadlines
8. Above average computer skills including knowledge of Word and Excel
9. Professional demeanor and ability to remain calm under pressure
10. Team player who demonstrates initiative and follow through on assignments.
11. Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities and critical deadlines
12. Knowledge of LEXIS/NEXIS and other on-line research tools a plus.
