Staff Engineer
Toyo Tires (USA) Corp, a leading supplier of high quality passenger, performance, light truck, truck and off-road tires has opening for a Staff Engineer located in Cypress, CA.
Recent graduates welcome, no tire experience necessary, but automotive interest or experience a BIG plus.
SUMMARY: The incumbent will be responsible for product testing and evaluation in all product categories. Create reports on competitive products by category compared to Toyo products. Responsible for analysis of product quality and performance data from field-testing of Toyo and competitive tires. Consolidates reports from department personnel on assigned subject areas. Provides technical support to Sales and Marketing departments as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
Testing, Analysis and Reporting Accountability, Quality Assurance Accountability, Technical Quantitative Analysis Accountability. Analyze and report competitive activity, and competitive product categories vs. Toyo products and categories. Sales and Marketing Technical Support Accountability. New Product Development Accountability.
PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ACCOUNTABILITY
1. Assist with a variety of projects as assigned with an emphasis on learning the intricacies of the Standard Passenger and Snow tire market.
2. Analyze RMA statistics to support size expansion for current projects.
TESTING, ANALYSIS & REPORTING ACCOUNTABILITY:
1. Learn to identify suitable test fleets (PC, LT and TB) and produce TUS reports.
2. Conduct Field Testing of Toyo consumer and commercial products to confirm performance to design standards, and relative performance vs. major competitors.
a. Seek out qualified monitor user candidates, submit TUS reports; update as required.
b. Insure monitor user tires are mounted properly and according to plan.
c. Insure against loss of tires; report and document premature removal.
3. Learn to write technical test reports and present clear and logical conclusions with respect to test objectives.
4.Submit detailed interim reports regarding the test results according to standard reporting format and procedures.
QUALITY ASSURANCE ACCOUNTABILITY:
Follow individual test tires as assigned.
a. Collect quantitative and qualitative data on Toyo and other test tires, and report using proper QAP report format and graphs.
b. Submit CCP2 reports and conduct claim analysis as required to submit timely reports regarding any (tire) quality or performance anomalies.
2. Participate in quality investigations (identification, collection and analysis) as assigned.
3. Participate in QE Meetings.
SALES & MARKETING PROMOTION ACCOUNTABILITY:
Support Sales and Marketing department objectives through technical means to meet company objectives. Support racing events to acquire product knowledge and continuous development of race tires (through written technical reports).
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.
QUALIFICATIONS: Requires ability to analyze product performance trends and produce accurate written and oral reports. Must have the capability to analyze product quality and damage conditions. Must effectively analyze statistical data to determine trends, answer technical questions and problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Requires a BS degree in engineering. Automotive knowledge and interest is preferable. Must be proficient in Microsoft ‘Office’ software programs.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: good command of English, both written and verbal.
