Supplier Quality Engineer

Key Safety Systems, Inc. is a leading global designer, integrator, and manufacturer of safety-critical components and systems including airbags, seat belts and steering wheels.  Our products are used in more than 300 vehicle models produced by over 60 automobile manufacturers worldwide.  Key Safety Systems' global reach comprises 41 manufacturing, technical and sales facilities in 12 countries, generating more than $1 billion in sales annually.  We are currently seeking a Quality Engineer in Sterling Heights, MI to handle supplier development issues.

SUMMARY:

The Supplier Systems Development Engineer will conduct supplier development by identification of improvement opportunities at the supplier and within the company.  Will train suppliers in APQP activities including effective PFMEA’s, Control plans, flow-charts, problem solving, PPAP submission, Run @ Rate completion, Launch Containment System, and effective use of applied statistics, and sub-supplier audits.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

· Coordinate supplier assessment function / activities for existing and potential new suppliers (Supplier Audits)

· Provide quality support to Material Procurement on ESI (Early Supplier Involvement) activities

· Assist in chronic problem parts improvement program

· Coordinate and assist in APQP (Advanced Quality Planning) efforts at suppliers 

·   Train suppliers in APQP activities including effective PFMEA’s, Control Plans, flow-charts, problem-solving, PPAP

  submission, Run @Rate completion, the Launch Containment System,, and sub-supplier audits

· Assist suppliers and the manufacturing plants with SREA’s, expedited deviation approval, and drawing rationalization

· Assist in insuring integrity of quality data fed to performance database

· Responsible for Early Supplier Involvement success

· Support Plants in the quality problems solving as acceleration point

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 

· Bachelor's Degree in Engineering / Business or equivalent training and experience is desired

· A minimum of 2 years Industrial / Automotive experience in Supplier Systems Development activities is preferred

· Certified Quality Auditor  / Certified Quality Engineer certification is preferred
