System Engineer - Milwaukee, WI

General Summary:

Are you an innovative engineer that craves interaction with the customer? This position may be just right for you.  Our client has partnered with a hybrid technology company to develop an alternative fuel source application for their line of vehicles used in utility and related industries. The utility industry is seen as an early adopter for alternative fuel technology especially in connection with using the electrical grid to power vehicles and work platforms. Due to the high growth potential for this technology, this newly created position is critical to the successful product launch.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This list is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary from time to time.

• Managing and interpreting customer requirements - listening to clients and using astute questioning to understand, anticipate and exceed their needs;
• Supporting marketing activities by attending trade shows, conferences and other marketing events;
• Making technical presentations and demonstrating how a product will meet client needs;
• Searching for new clients who could benefit from company products or services and maximizing customer potential in designated regions;
• Establishing new, and maintaining existing, long-term relationships with customers which included approximately 50% travel.
• Persuading clients that a product or service will best satisfy their needs in terms of quality, price and delivery;
• Calculating client quotations;
• Negotiating tender and contract terms, to meet both client and company needs;
• Negotiating and closing sales by agreeing terms and conditions;
• Offering after-sales support services;
• Analyzing costs and sales;
• Recording and maintaining client contact data and preparing various reports
• Co-coordinating sales projects;
• Providing pre-sales technical assistance and product education;
• Liaison with other members of the sales team and other technical experts;
• Helping in the design of custom-made products;
• Providing training and producing support material for other members of the sales team.

Skills and Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. Electrical preferred.   
• Proven track record with 5-7 years of related experience.
• Demonstrated communication and presentation skills.
• Solid technical background;
• Sound judgment and good business sense;
• Analytical and problem-solving skills;
• Resilience and tenacity;
• Independent self-starter
• Attention to detail and quality.
• Ability to work with flexible and changing schedules.
• Solid Problem solving & Mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to build solid relationships with clients quickly;
• Ability to communicate with employees and customers as well as work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Operate Microsoft Office software including Microsoft Outlook, Access, Excel, Powerpoint and Word.
• Able to read CAD drawings.
