TECHNICIAN

Position Summary: Evaluate and document that our external bearing and steel suppliers meet Timken specifications for material cleanness through the use of ultrasonic inspection equipment. This position also supports internal Alloy Steel Product and Process Advancement projects for new business development and mill upgrades with the same ultrasonic equipment.  Responsibilities: 1. Operate ultrasonic equipment to evaluate both steel and bearing component cleanness.2. Record ultrasonic data in lab database and assist the professional staff with data analysis.3. Work with the ultrasonic lab leader and professional staff to ensure that the lab work flow meets the customer requirements.4. Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on lab equipment under the guidance of the lab leader.5. Ensure that all lab SOP's are followed and material identification and location is maintained. 6. A team player that is open to ideas from a variety of individuals and is able to effectively communicate with our global team.7. Motivated individual that is able to work on different tasks as a team member or individually and stay focused on the lab requirements.8. Willing to obtain additional training as needed to operate and understand ultrasonic equipment.Qualifications:High school graduate with a minimum of 4 years experience in mechanical systems and equipment. Two year Associate Degree with a mechanical/metallurgical major would be beneficial but is not required for this entry level position. Exposure to electrical/electronic principles through formal training or prior job experience is needed to understand and troubleshoot lab equipment.
