Technical Author - Volvo

Job Summary Works directly with the client, engineers, technicians and project manager to develop accurate automotive diagnostics. Develops or updates diagnostic service information based on the end user needs, specialty diagnostic tools of the end user, client specifications and expectations, and the current product information. Researches product information. Utilizes various computer systems for delivery of the final product to the end user and client. Interacts with department management and support personnel for input, direction and resource acquisition. Responsibilities 1. Develops technical diagnostic documentation based on the equity assigned.2. Consults with various client engineering contacts and subject matter experts to gather product specific information.3. Participates in meetings with client engineers, subject matter experts and departmental co-workers.4. Develops technical diagnostic information using client supplied resources, subject matter experts, product validations, and engineering schematics.5. Authors information using various electronic media¿s, such as SGML, XML, HTML.6. Develops illustration go-bys.7. Validates the developed technical information based on vehicle comparison.8. Advises project manager/team lead of project status and potential issues.9. Responsible for delivery of projects that are accurate, on time and within budget.10. Completes various assignments as directed by management.11. Assists with the development and continual improvement of procedures.12. Facilitate customer satisfaction through the use of internal and external metrics.13. Uses office equipment as required. Qualifications 1. Two years of experience in technical diagnostic writing or a related field.2. Technical degree, ASE, State Certification or at least two years hands on automotive diagnostic experience is preferred.3. Knowledge and experience with diesel engine systems preferred but not required.4. Knowledge and experience with On-board Diagnostic (OBD) systems preferred.5. Ability to read, comprehend and follow complicated verbal and written communication, such as client communications and technical information.6. Ability to communicate ideas verbally and in text format, in a clear, concise manner.7. Ability to create solutions to multi-dimensional problems.8. Knowledge of computer programs, such as Arbortext, Single Point Authoring (SPA).9. Ability to work with multiple projects, short deadlines and high stress and to handle frequently changing demands.10. Ability to be forward thinking.
