Tool Engineer

 Essential Functions & Responsibilities To complete all additional assignments and/or tasks, not included in this job description but requested of them by their supervisor, within the guidelines/timelines established or requested.
• Contribute to the simultaneous engineering effort of the division to assist the customer in developing a product that is cost effective and manufacturable.
• Develop component part and blank configurations.
• Work with Product and Manufacturing Engineers and Cost Analysis on new structures estimates to develop order material size, preliminary, process lineups, and tooling required for the programs.
• Determine lest cost solutions and cost estimates to meet programs objectives.
• Develop program timelines and implement action plans to meet goals.
• Analyze press tools and press capacity planning.
• Develop press tools and press equipment specifications.
• Follow tool design process from concept to detailing.
• Support continuous improvement of the time frame required for design, build and development of press tools and equipment.
• Monitor and assist in tool followup process internal and at outside suppliers throughout placement, design, build, develop and startup.
• Support continuous improvement of existing (in production) tools and fixtures.
• Actively seek to further tooling knowledge.
• Seek out, benchmark, and integrate low cost press tool technology.
• Integrate electronic and computer solutions where appropriate.
• Assist in updating press tool and equipment standards to comply with QS9000 and ISO9001.
• Actively support DQLA criteria, Parish VSE, QS9000 and ISO9001 standards.

Qualifications:
• Four year engineer degree required + 1 to 3 years experience in a heavy metal stamping environment.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
