Vice President Global Purchasing / Supply Chain
Leading global automotive supplier is seeking a VP Global Purchasing / Supply Chain for its Southeast, MI HQ and largest Mfg site. This position is strategically important to the corporations continued long-term success. Accomplishments will be highly visible within the organization.
The selected candidate will lead all activities responsible for global purchasing, planning, developing and optimizing supply chain performance. Responsible for driving costs out of the supply chain while maintaining the highest level of quality & consistency for all incoming materials; creating WIN/WIN relationships with vendors; strategic & tactical planning, LCC sourcing, and contributing to the accomplishment of financial objectives.
Continued responsibilities include:
- Locate and develop potential new suppliers which have the capability to supply high quality, low cost purchased components, tooling, and capital equipment to NA and global factories.
- Insure that suppliers are chosen who will offer best in class pricing, high quality components, and are capable of timely deliveries
- Visit vendor facilities to evaluate overall performance to include production capacity, cost control, efficiency, quality, reliability and on-time delivery
- Will work with product development and quality assurance team to determine trends and market testing.
- Develop and implement supply strategies to aggressively reduce the cost of key materials, components and subsystems, reduce material lead times and inventory requirements and associated work capital needs
- Will lead the sourcing/purchasing team to develop manage the new product development schedule and coordinate sourcing activities by working closely with vendors and supply chain planning team, product marketing, quality assurance, transportation and materials staff.
- Develop systems/processes to achieve 100% on-time supplier deliveries partnering with supplier performance org
- Support day-to-day sourcing responsibilities for manufacturing operations
- Negotiate agreements with and manage supplier relationships
- Partner with Engineering, R & D, Finance and Manufacturing leadership to achieve cost reduction targets
Experience:BS/BA in a related field of discipline. An MBA and/or CPM (a plus)Tier 1 Automotive Supplier exp. (must have)8+ years in a progressive procurement environment with significant experience in the stampings, machinings, steel, electronics, or plasticsSuccessful experience in sourcing in low cost regions (must have)Excellent business, financial and negotiating skills are required along with knowledge of quality systems, lean manufacturing processes and project management knowledgeTechnical knowledge of highly engineered products, manufacturing processes, manufacturing information systems, and state-of-the-art supply chain practices would be helpful Strong working knowledge of MRP and ERP systemsAble to travel internationally / domestic at timesKnowledge of world class sourcing tools and experience implementing them
