3rd Shift Computer Operator

FirstPlace, Wachovia's internal recruiting division of HR specializing in contract and contract-to-hire placements, is in immediate need for a 3rd shift Computer Operator in Winston-Salem, NC. Working hours are Sunday through Thursday, 10:45 PM through 7:30 AM. Candidates will be responsible for the following: Responding to user requests, monitoring, and media movements in the tape operations environment in order to maximize availability and Disaster Recovery requirements. Monitor and tape handling of all in-coming and out-going media in the production environment Perform daily Disaster Recovery tape movements that are required to be moved to an Off-site location Perform tasks associated with operation of mainframe, distributed server systems and peripheral equipment Performs troubleshooting of basic and intermediate problems Complete and maintain all administrative reporting requirements Identify opportunities for process and procedural improvement Makes decisions based on established policies, processes and procedures. Solicits input from peers and manager. Analyzes data to proactively identify performance anomalies. There are no levels below this one in this job family. Does not independently troubleshoot complex issues. Requirements: Associates degree or 1-3 years experience in Tape Operations environment. Good Communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. Able to work independently and as a member of a high performance team. Basic PC skills. Has a basic understanding of software, system utilities, operating systems, incident and change management principles, etc. May be required to travel between command centers. Must be willing to work alternative shifts and overtime in a 24x7x365 environment. Position requires lifting, pushing, pulling and moving roll carts and/or containers that could weight up to 50lbs give or take a few pounds.
