So if you’re ready for WaMu, read on!Description:The Washington Mutual Card Services Controller Group prepares detailed analytics of expense accounts, select account reconciliations, and accruals for various accounts on behalf of the division. Under immediate supervision, performs entry-level, routine accounting tasks of limited scope which can be learned on the job and which do not call for previous accounting experience, but does require knowledge of basic accounting theory and practice. An incumbent is trained on the job to prepare account entries, maintain general ledgers, and perform reconciliation's. Guidance is readily available as needed, and work is reviewed in progress and upon completion by the Manager or a more experienced accountant. While work does require some independent judgment, it generally follows clear and well-defined guidelines. Posts, balances, and reconciles data as instructed. Preparation of very detailed expense analytics in order to validate accruals. This includes the maintaining of data integrity for very large groups of data. Consults with business owners to understand expense trends and to provide feedback when needed. Respond, as necessary, to internal customer’s needs. Prepares Non-Interest Expense (NIE) variance explanations. Searches records to locate specific information; checks materials for accuracy and completeness. Performs basic posting, filing, calculating, balancing, and reconciliation of routine and special data as assigned based on information internally generated or derived from other departments and sources. Checks transactions, such as general ledger postings, for completeness and accuracy. Investigates questionable entries and initiates corrective measures. Detail oriented with the ability to interpret data while using strong analytical skills. Ability to interpret and analyze data. Basic understanding of spreadsheet and database applications. Perform arithmetic calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, averages and percentages). Establish and maintain effective working relationships as required by specific job duties. Maintain confidentiality of working information. Communicate effectively orally and in writing. Examine/validate documents, identifying variances, errors, and procedural non-compliance. Use automated systems and operates office equipment/software at an acceptable level of proficiency. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. Math aptitude w/general office skills; proficient in ten-key, detail oriented, good communication and interpersonal skills required. Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
