The Analyst II-Risk Analytics position is a critical staff member of the Analytics team in supporting Risk Operations goals by monitoring, reporting, and providing high-caliber analytics related to loss events in WaMu. This position provides a linkage between internal operations, risk model efficiency, and overall influence towards the goal of reducing losses for WaMu. Data analysis and mining is required to understand and convey information relative to General Ledger posting and reconciliation of same back to operational case management system and forecasting. Position works with minimal supervision on complex monthly reporting packages or tasks with unseen outcomes and major impact. This position will focus on the development of comprehensive reporting strategies, data collection, and report designs. This position will function as the primary liaison between the Deposit Risk Management Reporting & Analytics and Retail Bank Partners to design and develop actionable reporting strategies to meet the needs of this dynamic group. He/she will analyze and evaluate existing or proposed reports, systems, and processes, then devise or modify solutions to the problems. Also, the analyst will consult with business clients, analyze business requirements, and implement new or revised reports and solutions. They participate with management in providing leadership on high level reporting and help coordinate the activities of the team by providing direction, training, and guidance.The preferred location for this position is Stockton, CA but applicants in Seattle, WA will also be considered. Sound understanding of Risk Analysis and business acumen relative to fraud and deposit operations is paramount, coupled with a firm knowledge of relational database systems used to drive reporting and analysis. Relative financial industry experience is a must, preferably in banking. The successful applicant will have excellent technical experience including work with SAS, SQL, Oracle and Business Objects. Experience requirements include:Technical Systems and Applications: SAS, Business Objects, Oracle and SQLStatistical modeling experience Self-starter, initiative, creative thinking, real-world achievement, and production are highly coveted attributes for successful candidate.Business acumen with respect to Deposit and Check fraud and loss processing is highly desirableUltimately looking for somebody interested in taking charge of a position where there is plenty of visibility, looking to understand our operations and where improvements may be had, as well as fill-in for many ancillary tasks and duties within.Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree in a quantitative field such as operations research, statistics, econometrics, mathematics or equivalent is preferred.Two years performing progressively responsible job duties in a banking or loan based financial services environment or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
