Application Programmer

The Application Programmer at Compupay is responsible for developing and test new payroll related application programs and maintain legacy payroll related application programs written in a 3rd generation version of the BASIC programming language.  Candidate will be expected to work with existing programmers and assume responsiblilty and ownership of existing application programs.  Candidate must be content working within 3rd generation language envirionment and work independently with minimal supervision.  Candidate should be comfortable working as the sole programmer on a project as well as working within a workgroup of programmers.

 

Responsibilities:Maintain legacy payroll application programsDevelop new payroll related applicationsWork with business users and other programmers to define programming requirements and design methodolgiesTest and assist in rollout of new program releasesAssistance other team members programmers in programming techniques when applicable

 

Minimum Qualifications:BS/BA or equivalent educational background Minimum Five (5) years experience in 3rd generation version of the BASIC programming languageExperience in managing flat file database structuresAlphaMicro Basic language, Business Basic, DIBOL, COBOLUnix (IBM AIX on RS6000 in particular) background a plus. Payroll knowledge is a plusMinimal business travel requiredMust be willing to work extended hours when necessary
