An Area Collection Manager is dedicated to one or more Branches for the sole purpose of coordinating legal, collection and recovery efforts among the branch or branches. Efforts will be focused on active receivables that mature into a defined delinquent status as well as the recovery of previously written-off receivables. The ACM will work directly with Branch and Regional Managers to assist and coach them in all matters related to collections and recovery (pre-defined active delinquency, assessing potential loss accounts, PLN Screen updates, repossession, notes receivable recommendations and execution, and monthly write-off recommendations). Job FunctionsEssential elements:1. Use leadership, management skill, creativity and available resources to achieve collection goals of each respective Division. 2. Utilize all appropriate means to monitor and collect receivables, account for property used to secure loans, and to document business transactions (particularly communications related to over credit line, NSFs, late payments, returned checks, note repayments, and out of trust situations). 3. Develop a thorough understanding of AFC policies, processes and procedures relative to collections, repossessions, notes receivable, write-offs and recoveries 4. Understand the applicable laws and codes for their assigned geographic area and ensure the Region/Branch operates in compliance with them.5. Keep the Divisional Vice President, Regional Manager and Branch Manager apprised of the status of all collections and recoveries within their Region. Organize and utilize reports to analyze loss trends and branch/region performance. Use, integrate and distribute periodic corporate, division and branch data to the field as a basis of comparison, motivation and accountability. 6. When necessary, travel to loss situations and coordinate efforts to take possession of vehicles or other property used to secure loans and acts as AFCs agent/representative in legal matters, as required. 7. Thorough understanding and demonstrative ability to utilize, train, prepare and oversee any collection function in COSMOS, AutoVin and related reports as used/directed by AFC management. 8. Monitor lot audit compliance and coach branch employees on relevant issues, concerns and detection of early warning signs on a daily basis. Complete detailed reviews with each assigned branch at least monthly and more frequently with underperforming branches. 9. Analyze each branch or branchs portfolio at least monthly (more often for underperforming branches) utilizing receivable detail, curtailment report and the bucket report in conjunction with the aging summary. 10. Review of Delinquent Dealer Report (DDR) and Potential Loss Notification (PLN) Screen activity periodically and as changes occur to ensure that entries are correct and complete. 11. Coordinate and direct the branches (on an as-needed basis) in advance stage collection activity. 12. Conduct training and coaching daily/weekly/monthly on collection techniques, legal and administrative remedies, and compliance issues. Training and coaching efforts should be directed at employees at all levels including other ACMs. 13. Provide dealer performance assessment to assist in review of pending Credit Committee decisions (as needed). 14. Provide feedback to RM, VP concerning BM and office staff collection performance and effectiveness. 15. Monitor BM and office staff compliance and adherence to corporate collection policy. 16. Recommend initiation of litigation to VP of Legal and track all litigation matters and those charged-off accounts that are placed with collection agencies. Actively advise and guide outside counsel as to direction of litigation and ensure that cost and fee containment policies are followed. 17. Personally interact with delinquent dealers, as appropriate and coordinate details with branch managers/collectors. 18. Oversee drafting of promissory (workout) notes and monitor dealer performance related thereto, order asset searches, credit bureau reviews and drafting of mortgages. Marginal Elements19. Other duties, as assigned.Physical and Visual Requirements Position requires walking, sitting, standing, and driving an automobile for extended periods. Position involves verifying make/model/VIN of automobiles at a variety of locations. Daily review and preparation of automated or manual reports using pen/pencil, calculator, or keyboard is required.Environmental - Atmospheric Conditions Varying climates, weather conditions, and walking surfaces, inside and outside. Occasional exposure to fumes, odors, gases, compounds or dusts endemic to auto industry. Travel is frequently required and mode of transportation varies: typically automobile, airplane, or public conveyance.Job Qualification RequirementsEducation: Degree in related field desired, not required.Experience: Two years in automotive or financial services industry. Knowledge and skill: Familiarity with concepts, procedures and processes typically used in automotive and financial services industries. Good organizational, clerical and verbal communication skills. Facility with numbers.
