Associate Counsel, Legal Services

Under the general guidance of the General Counsel, provides legal support to the General Counsel, Assistant General Counsel and EdFund in a complex and evolving corporate environment.  The Associate Counsel will develop a full understanding of all legal matters pertaining to EdFund and oversee management of complex legal matters in support of EdFund's operations, which will require both internal and external contacts.  Researches, analyzes, writes, edits and finalizes reports, legal opinions, correspondence, articles, and other documents.  Attends conferences that involve the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP) and other federal Title IV higher education programs as assigned by the General Counsel.

Must have graduated from an accredited law school and is admitted to and in good standing with the California State Bar.  Must have 0-4 years of legal experience in either a law firm or corporate setting.  General legal knowledge in multiple fields of legal practice is beneficial.  Must have the ability to practice in a complex and evolving corporate environment and learn new areas of law quickly.  Must be able to handle multiple projects under pressure with specific deadlines and have excellent time management skills.  The ability to use Microsoft Word is required.  Microsoft Excel and Power Point experience is helpful.  Must have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a focused, succinct, and logical manner, explain legal concepts to non-attorneys and present written material clearly, accurately and in a logical comprehensible manner.  Bilingual skills in Spanish (oral and written) beneficial but not required.
