Benefits Administrator

Department:  Human Resources Department

  Title: Benefits Administrator

  Hours:  9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

 

 

Principal Responsibilities:

·  Administer and coordinate various employee benefit programs such as medical/dental insurance, life/AD&D insurance, voluntary life insurance, COBRA, short and long term disability, pension, Workers Compensation claims, FMLA, FSA, 401(k), and transit program.  This includes responding to employees’ questions and managing vendor relationships.

·  Manage projects such as preparation of annual benefit statements and data submission for actuarial valuation of pension plan.

·  Reconcile monthly health insurance and transit program bills from various vendors.  Resolve administrative/financial discrepancies with vendor and/or Finance dept.

·  Prepare input for payroll on salary changes, paid/unpaid leaves, and changes to benefits that affect salary deductions.

·  Prepare 5500 filings for health insurance and other programs, as necessary.

·  Process enrollments it and changes to insurance coverage.

·  Prepare and forward salary change forms to managers for completion.

·  Schedule interviews for candidates.

·  Prepare offer letters for new hires, enter requests for background investigations, and conduct new employee orientation.

·  Manage benefits information on company Intranet.

·  Perform other HR duties, as assigned.

 

 

Requirements:

·  3-5 years benefits administration experience including first hand experience dealing with various vendors..

·  Demonstrated understanding of benefit programs and the laws that regulate them.

·  Strong PC skills (Word, Excel, and Outlook.)

·  Excellent verbal and written communication skills to respond to employees and educate employees regarding benefits.

·  Ability to multi-task and respond to competing/changing priorities, delays and unexpected events.

·  Must be able to prioritize, meet deadlines and work with minimal supervision.

·  Experience maintaining records in an HR Database and creating reports from it.
