Branch Small Business Development Officer

POSITION CHARACTERISTICS: This outside sales position is responsible for identifying, sourcing, and developing small business prospects and developing new clients. Drives the sale of business loans and banking services (including deposits, loans, and cash management services) through the branches to which the Officer is assigned. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:?• Sources prospects and develops new clients, and sells business banking services and products to new clients.?• Develops strategies to identify prospects and follow up on sales leads in order to achieve sales results and meet established sales goals.?• Maintains and expands referral sources through regular networking and outreach strategies.?• Establishes and maintains thorough prospect files, and maintains sales and customer data through Enterprise Content Management (ECM) system as required and appropriate.?• Makes sales calls on prospective clients (at times with the Branch Manager) to identify needs and recommend appropriate products and services.?• Takes business loan applications from prospective clients and refers completed applications to the Small Business Credit Specialist.?• Participates in community organizations and activities in order to build network and expand relationships. ?• Refers new clients to the Branch Manager and his/her team for on-going development and management of the relationship.?• Supports internal marketing campaigns and product launches; modify sales techniques to achieve sales results. ?• May work with other business units to make internal referrals of potential new and expanded business as appropriate.?• Stays updated on the general banking environment, the competition, and client and prospect business environments and needs.?• Adheres to general bank regulatory procedures including BSA/AML as it pertains to “know your customer.”ACADEMIC BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE:• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Business or related field.• Minimum of 1-3 years of previous outside sales experience is required.• Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain networks and contacts, and to generate sales prospects and leads.SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:• Ability to monitor and proactively act on sales leads and identified prospects.• Demonstrated ability to make outside sales calls (including cold calls), and to identify clients’ needs through active selling techniques.• Ability to build effective relationships and trust with customers, and to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internally and externally.• Effective sales ability and persuasiveness, coupled with strong oral and written communication skills. • Strong problem-solving, negotiation & follow-up skills• Ability to develop personal knowledge of bank products, sales and service techniques.• Ability to manage time and resources to ensure work is completed efficiently and within established timeframes.• Computer literate; fluency in Microsoft Office programs.We are proud to be an EEO/AA employer M/F/D/V.
