Background: 

For the last several years, Deutsche’s GM business has grown dramatically propelling DB to amongst the top market players in all Asian local market.  DB has been undergoing a Finance Transformation where processes will be standardized and streamlined. The production-related functions are being smart-sourced to an offshore team. Responsibility has been retained onshore to monitor, escalate and resolve unusual issues.

 

Finance’s mission is to be one team with a proactive approach that uses advanced systems, that is respected as being one of the best Finance organizations in the industry and is a key enabler or the Group’s strategic targets.

 

All Business Area Controllers will become mini-CFOs, with responsibility for Relationship Management, Review, Analysis and Advisory and daily P&L production oversight.

 

Regional targets include improving the quality of working life by reducing the number of working hours and encouraging and supporting regular job rotations to develop senior managers of the future.

 

Role:Provide training and coaching to the team on the area of expertise, ensuring that individuals have the requisite training to do their jobs and individuals are suitably skilled to meet future challenges;Face off to the business at a Senior Trader / Head of Desk level and be conversant with the strategies and issues;

·  Ensure linkage between sales credits and revenues

·  Ensure detailed review of structured tradesPartner with the business to provide value added service to help them run the business;Supervise and monitor daily and month-end P&L production to ensure they are produced to a high standard and delivered to management within the times specified in the team objectives;

·  Ensure quality of system recs,

·  Ensure transparent bookings through to G.Ledger

·  Ensure accurate pricingProduce detailed P&L analysis and commentaries to management on a daily, weekly and monthly basis;

·  Ensure appropriate application of accounting standards (Group & Local)Continual review of production processes to ensure inefficiencies are driven out and controls in place to detect and mitigate risk;Ensure efficient smart-sourcing of production processes;Liaise with the management of Operations/Middle Office in multiple locations to ensure booking problems are resolved on a timely basis;Deal with internal audit/external audit/regulatory audit issues as they arise.

 

 

The position is a great opportunity and will be particularly attractive to experienced staff who understand front to back flows and are ready to take the next step into a business facing environment through the mini-CFO structure. The opportunity for further advancement is not limited to the immediate role with the potential to rotate into other areas, roles and locations that DB, as a top-tier global bank, offers. The right candidate should have a view to being in the direct line of succession and identify themselves early as such candidates. 

 

 

Prospective Candidate

 

The candidate should:

·  Have an Accounting qualification (strongly recommended)

· Have a minimum of around 3-4  years in an investment banking experience (or 6-7 years if no accounting qualification) within a major investment bank;

·  Be able to deal with a multi system environment;

·  Be diligent,  efficient and able to manage multiple conflicting deliverables including working under pressure;

·  Be presentable and able to communicate effectively through all forms of media;

·  Understand and act as client relation manager with internal clients;

·  Possess strong communication skills;

·  Be prepared to be in the front line - handle queries and proactively handle issue resolution;

·  Be able to escalate issues and keep managers and peers well informed on an ongoing basis;

·  Question existing procedures, being able to point out weaknesses and suggest improvements challenging the status quo as necessary;

·  Possess mini CFO thinking.  Be able to challenge the current model and take initiative to re-engineer the Finance process, as well as offer additional guidance to support business practices

·  Lead a balanced life – be able to separate work and personal lives appropriately not allowing either to overly dominate their thinking.
