Qualifications for the new Credit Approval Officers

The Credit Approval Officer is responsible for decision and pricing Business Banking credit products for business entities. Decisions are based on a thorough knowledge of credit policy, inclusive of financial statement analysis. Emphasis is placed on accuracy, processing time, regulatory and compliance standards as well as the ability to identify, recommend, and justify policy exceptions that are mitigated by sound credit analysis and appropriate approval levels. Underwriters must exhibit the highest standards of customer service to our sales partners and be responsive to their inquiries and calls.



The essential responsibilities of this position include:Maintain in –depth understanding of all credit policies and procedures Identify acceptable credit policy exceptions that still ensure superior asset quality Underwrite Business Banking products such as revolving lines of credit, business installment loans, overdraft lines, letters of credit, SBA Lines, and credit cards. Handle 20-30 phone calls per day from the field Must negotiate and sell credit decisions to the field. Be proactive in the reconsideration of declined facilities

 

Skills Needed:Must have completed credit training. Able to understand and apply Credit Policies and Procedures. Works well in high volume environment. Excellent Communication skills both verbal and written. Knowledge of financial services industry preferred. Customer focused. Proficient in all compliance and regulatory issues as they relate to CCA products. Must be proficient with spreadsheet software, word, and proprietary bank systems Strong analytical skills and the ability to assimilate complex information  Requires training and experience in financial statement credit analysis skills, credit analysis, projections, cash flow analysis and loan structuring. Interact with clients to gather information for the loan request and learn about the clients business. Successful completion of credit training or equivalent is required. Should possess 2 years + or more experience in Commercial/ Business banking lending, underwriting, with expert knowledge of business credit processes and products. Strong Communication and negotiating skills are important to be successful Good understanding of small business lending and consumer lending. Good knowledge of consumer credit scoring systems and commercial credit scoring systems and consumer credit scores. BA Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or Economics is preferred.
