2 positions :  Fairfax, VA and Silver Spring, MD GENERAL SUMMARY:

Primarily responsible for developing new commercial client relationships and expanding existing relationships utilizing professional sales techniques to prospect, identify and meet client needs. Acts as primary contact for assigned clients and continually expands the client relationship through needs-based selling techniques. Participates in business events and networking opportunities. Effectively works with key representatives from all areas of the company to send and accept referrals.

MAJOR JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

1. Sales Activity: Client Contact, Joint Business Calls, Networking

Initiates outbound telemarketing calls to new business prospects and existing business clients with the objective of developing new business through needs-based selling. Initiates joint business calls with COMs, Financial Advisors, and CRMs to offer additional opportunities to clients/prospects. Participates in business events and networking groups focusing on developing new business relationships and lead sources. Initiates regular cold calling events with COMs in assigned market area. Represents Sandy Spring Bank to the client and community in a highly professional, courteous manner at all times. Exhibits quality behaviors that promote client trust. Maintains the highest level of professional integrity by placing emphasis on the client’s best interest at all times.

2. Sales Results: New Deposit Generation

Generates new deposits through needs-based selling to new business prospects and existing business clients. Troubleshoots problems or issues with COM or client as needed. Works to ensure a smooth account opening and servicing process. Complies with all relevant regulatory requirements.

3. Sales Results: New Loan Production

Generates new loan production through needs-based selling with new and established business clients. Works closely with appropriate CRM, and/or Small Business Loan Center to negotiate and structure loan transactions. Maintains contact with client throughout the approval and settlement process to ensure client satisfaction. Complies with all relevant regulatory requirements.

4. High Value Client Retention and Penetration

Responsible for retention and growth of assigned High Value clients through regular contact. Retention and penetration of these clients is a primary importance.

5. Sales Results: Non Interest Fee Income

Generates non-interest fee income for the company through referrals resulting in sales of fee-based products (i.e. insurance, trust, investments, retirement plans), Treasury Management and loan fees.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

1. Work requires broad professional level of knowledge and expertise in business banking, and relationship sales. Minimum of 5 years experience in a professional sales environment is preferred. Thorough familiarity with related laws and regulations surrounding commercial banking relationships is required. Demonstrated sales success in business development is required.

2. Ability to utilize standard PC based software to prepare correspondence, reports, and other documents as needed.

3. Strong communication and presentation skills are needed to effectively work with clients to explain products and interpret policy. Strong interpersonal skills are needed to maintain positive rapport with internal contacts.

4. Various situations require a substantial degree of analysis, interpretation and evaluation. Situations encountered include facts, issues and circumstances, which are significantly different from those previously addressed. These situations call for the consideration of alternative courses of action and of their consequences before taking or recommending further action.
