MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE: 

This developer role involves developing and maintenance of the C++ based code within the MDS applications.

MDS is a C++ and Sybase based application consisting of a number of client APIs on both Windows and Unix, a middle tier application server running on Unix, and a large Sybase database. The application is used throughout the whole of Credit Suisse by all business areas and is critical to the smooth operation of many trading desks.

The successful candidate will develop new functionality and enhancements to the existing applications as well as being involved in the drive to provide new strategic components.

The primary skill set required for the role will be C++ and will be focused on the coding of the core MDS application and APIs. However, other technologies are in use across other MDS components include Perl and Java. A knowledge of these languages is a plus.

This role will also involve a degree of 3rd line application support.

A structured approach to design, development and testing is essential due to the critical nature of the application.

EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: 


Degree in technical discipline
 
WORK EXPERIENCE/BACKGROUND:


2+ Years IT or business background in similar role.

Understanding of basic database concepts and development techniques for database systems.

Successful track record working under pressure and to deadlines
 
TECHINICAL/BUSINESS SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:


- 2+ years of C++ experience
- UNIX
- Excellent OO skills 
- Good working knowledge of Oracle or Sybase SQL, good understanding of RDBMS.
- Experience with Source Code Management tools, such as ClearCase
- Ability to develop database centric applications.
