Our client has an IT department of approximately 8 people across support, application development and infrastructure duties. An ideal candidate for this position would have strong software development skills (C#, Visual SourceSafe), very strong SQL/relational database skills, knowledge of the SLDC project development lifecycle and training in accurate documentation. It must be emphasized that support of end users on platforms specific to the asset management industry is a large part of the job. From 30 to 50% of weekly activities are support-oriented.Work directly with the business is frequent and required. This communication is in both a support role and to gather requirements and discuss specifications of new development and technology.General Description: Primarily responsible for the support of existing applications and for the design, implementation and management of software solutions in the support of the day-to-day business including gathering information and writing functional specifications.Specific Functions: Database Development - Design new database structures - Implement changes to databases - Maintain existing database structures including stored procedures, data views, tables and related components - Research issues related to the databaseApplication Development - Design software solutions based on end-user business requirements - Manage the implementation and release of those solutions - Document those solutions for the technology team and the end-user - Alpha and beta test applications prior to release to the business - Release software to the end-usersApplication Support - Answer end-user questions on all non-operating system software (i.e., not Office, not Windows) - Research issues as needed utilizing the available software development tools - Provide updates to supported softwareGreat opportunity to learn the investment management business.   Contact: PLEASE E-MAIL RESUMES TO: Apply by Email
