•Location:    Irving, TX •Job Status:    Part Time, Employee•Job Category:    Administrative/Clerical Capital One Now Hiring For Part Time Mail Clerk JOB FUNCTION:The primary function of this position is to sort, process, and distribute incoming/outgoing Interoffice Mail, 1st Class U.S. Postal Mail, Registered Mail, Certified Mail, Federal Express and UPS ground packages received through the banking office network and internal departments within the Irving region. The Mail Clerks handle over 12,000 pieces of mail per day and work with equipment valued at over $100,000. REGULAR DUTIES:· Incoming U.S. Postal mail is sorted and distributed the same day it is received from the Post Office. · Outgoing U.S. Postal mail is metered and prepared for delivery to the pre-sort vendor in addition to the U.S. Post Office within pre-defined dispatch and delivery schedules.· Incoming and Outgoing interoffice mail is sorted by addressee and distributed within the Irving region or forwarded to the designated regional mail room for final disposition. · Undeliverable mail returned by the U.S. Postal Service is researched to identify originating departments for proper disposition within 24 hours of receipt. · Responsible for accurate completion of postage meter closeouts and daily balancing of postage used to postage receipts. · Completion of daily PC based UPS and Federal Express shipping. Ensuring input procedures are followed and shipping addresses and cost centers are accurately entered.· Maintains receipt and dispatch logs for all priority mail processed to include UPS, Airborne, Federal Express, USPS Next Day, certified and registered mail. · Complete Hibernia Center Mail Room Courier Log entries upon receipt of cash letter deposits, defining # of bags/boxes and time delivery is received. Delivery to the Transit or Proof areas of incoming cash letters or customer deposits are completed promptly to avoid any float or availability loss. Signature verification of receipt is required for audit control.· Sort and prepare all U.S. Postal mail, interoffice mail, Priority mail, and supplies for shipment to other regions throughout the state in a timely manner. · Locked food stamp bags are delivered nightly, under dual control, to the Central Money Vault in Irving.· Telephone inquiries from banking offices and other departments are researched and resolved in a timely manner.· Perform other duties as may be assigned by the manager, supervisor, or lead clerk. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS· High School Diploma or GED REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:· 1+ years mail room, postal organization or bank operations experience.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:· General knowledge of postal rules and regulations · General understanding of automated mail equipment/tracking equipment (preferable Pitney Bowes equipment).· Knowledge of bank operations -- preferredREQUIRED SKILLS:· Organizational skills.· Ability to effectively manage time.· Independent and self motivated.· Detail oriented.· Very good verbal and written communication skills.· Good interpersonal skills.· Good problems solving skills.ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:· Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines.·   Ability to operate a keyboard if required to perform the essential job functions.· Ability to read and interpret a document.· Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 20 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions. If the employee is unable to lift/move/carry this weight and can be accommodated without causing the department an "undue hardship" then the employee must be accommodated; hence, omitting lifting as a physical requirement. To apply, visit our website at http://www.capitalone.com/careersSearch for requisition ID: 601933
