Commercial Loan Underwriter

Silverton Bank, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, is a leading national correspondent bank chartered specifically to serve the needs of community financial institutions across the United States.  We are looking for a Commercial Loan Underwriter for our Birmingham, AL office. The Commercial Loan Underwriter will be responsible for the credit underwriting and analysis of commercial loan applications, preparation of written loan presentations and the presentation of loan requests for approval. Works with the Regional Lender and Regional Credit Officer to determine credit worthiness. Major Responsibilities: Assist in qualification of prospects in order to determine credit worthiness by gathering credit information, spreading and analyzing financial statements, reviewing, preparing and reporting findings to the Regional Lender. Analyze relationship quality status and recommend any necessary corrective actions. Review information entered into the loan system to ensure all details are properly reflected. Work with the Regional Lenders to cure past dues. Assist Regional Lender with tracking loan covenants. Ensure appropriate information is forwarded to CFS when required. Prerequisites:Education:Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, Economics; MBA or Masters in Finance, Business, and Accounting preferredExperience: Work Experience: 3-4 years commercial underwriting work experience.
